Smiles and laughs
“It’s called what?!”
“Yes, it’s called a nipple. A bleed nipple that is.”
The bleed nipple protrudes from the exterior of the caliper, usually covered with a little plastic dust cap. It’s purpose is to attach a ‘hose’ and bleed the brakes – the process of removing air from the system, pressurizing it, essentially making it work.
Although humorous in name, brakes are no joke. Without your brakes tip-top, you will be on a fast one-way ticket to Accident and Emergency. That’s why, although we make sure to have fun and enjoy ourselves on the course, we take pride in covering everything seriously.
Brakes are arguably the most important part of your motorbike, as without them, you can’t use all that power produced from the engine.
